heart of the sahara
Djanet is one of the most varied and visually striking parts of the Algerian Sahara. From towering dunes and sculpted sandstone formations to canyons, oases and vast open plateaus, the landscapes change constantly. With 4×4 journeys, trekking and camel expeditions, it offers far more than a classic dune experience.
gateway to the past
The Tassili n’Ajjer is home to one of the world’s most remarkable collections of prehistoric rock art, with thousands of paintings and engravings spread across the plateau. Dating back 9,000-12,000 years, they reveal a very different Sahara—one of wildlife, water and early human life—and turn the landscape into an open-air record of the region’s past.
travel with the tuareg
A journey through Djanet is also a journey through Tuareg culture. Travelling with local guides, drivers, cooks and camel handlers offers a closer understanding of the traditions, hospitality and desert knowledge that have been passed down through generations. It is this connection to the people of the region that makes Djanet more than just a landscape.
