To truly experience the wonders of the Tadrart region, a journey of 5 to 8 days is essential. The vast desert landscapes, intricate rock formations, and ancient cave art demand time to explore and appreciate fully. This duration allows for a more relaxed pace, giving you the opportunity to visit key sites including the many ancient rock paintings and engravings.

arrival in djanet
After arriving on a night flight at Tiska Djanet Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and transferred to your bivouac accommodation near Djanet. Here, you can relax and recharge, in anticipation for the exciting adventure that lies ahead.
day 1
After breakfast, depart south toward the Tiska Mountains via Tin-Amali and the Tassili cliffs. Stop for lunch and a short rest before continuing through the vast plateaus toward the In-Djaren riverbed, at the entrance to Tadrart. Dinner and overnight bivouac under the stars.
day 2
Begin the day with breakfast, then set out to explore the In-Djaren canyon, home to remarkable prehistoric rock paintings and engravings. Pause for lunch and rest in the shade before continuing toward Moul-n-Aga, a striking area of dunes and towering cliffs. Sunset then dinner and bivouac at the foot of the dunes.
day 3
After breakfast, continue toward In Tehak, where the sand begins to shift into deep orange hues. Stop for lunch and enjoy the changing landscapes, from rocky outcrops to soft dunes. Dinner and overnight bivouac in In Tehak beneath the stars.
day 4
Breakfast before heading to the immense red dunes of Tin Merzouga, one of the most iconic sites in the Tadrart. Along the way, stop to explore unique rock formations and ancient rock art. Lunch and rest before climbing the dunes to watch the sunset over the red sands. Dinner and overnight camp in the dunes.
day 5
Following breakfast, continue through a labyrinth of canyons toward Bouhedien guelta, where water sometimes gathers among the rocks. Enjoy lunch and a rest before passing natural arches and sculpted sandstone formations on the way to Wan Zawatin. Dinner and overnight camp.
day 6
After breakfast, journey north toward Tigharghart, near Erg Admer, to see the famous Crying Cow engraving. Lunch and rest in the afternoon, followed by exploration of smooth rock formations and surrounding dunes. Dinner and overnight camp.
day 7
Breakfast before returning to Djanet for a shower and rest. Optional visit to the old town or local market. Lunch in town, followed by free time to relax before your farewell dinner and late-night airport transfer.
